What is Vision Therapy?
At Warden Optometry, vision therapy is used to improve children’s interest and active learning in school.
Vision therapy can improve over 18 visual skills such as eye tracking (pursuits), eye jumping (saccadic eye movements), eye teaming (vergences) and focusing (accommodation), eye coordination, visual reaction time, visualization, and peripheral awareness for visual performances. This can include eye-brain exercises, the use of special lenses, and various sensory activities. Vision therapy can reduce lazy eye and improve visual performance and visual attention in school, work, driving, and sports.
Additionally, we provide syntonic light therapy and primitive reflex integration to help with their focus and sitting still and straighter.
Syntonic Light Therapy
Syntonic light therapy uses certain wavelengths of light to balance the nervous system through the light receptors at the retina. It can improve the following conditions/symptoms: learning related vision problems, light sensitivities, sensory integration problems, post-concussion syndromes, headaches, dizziness, vertigo, post-stroke, lazy eyes, crossed eyes, PTSD, brain injury, and emotional disorders.
Primitive Reflex Integration
Primitive reflex is a motor reflex that is retained when a child has suffered an injury or trauma, emotionally or physically. It’s rooted from the central nervous system, the brain stem for motor control. Primitive reflex integration can help balance a child or an adult with neurological changes stemming from an injury or a traumatic event during development. Those who can benefit from primitive reflex integration includes those who have ASD, brain injury, neurological inflammation, sensitivity to sound or touch, and poor motor control.
Take the Vision Quiz to find out if you or your child has a vision problem that’s affecting their learning.
If the score is 30 or higher, the next step is to book a Functional Visual Assessment
